The girls represented Stirling Schools at the recent Girls Activation Tournament at Cumbernauld RFC.

Pools and semi-final matches were played before the final was held at half-time at the Scotland v England Ladies 6 Nations match at Broadwood.

In the quarter-finals, Stirling Schools met Balfron High School and in the increasingly muddy conditions, tries from Cyan van Schalkwyk and Gemma Cameron gave them a 5-0 win. A combined Perth and Montrose side called Mudsharks were joined by Elliann and Rhea Clark of Stirling County U15 girls in the semi-final and another 5-0 win came couresy of strong tackling by Natasha Logan and tries from Evie Wills, Niamh Woods and Beth Streets to earn them a place in the final at Broadwood against Shawlands.

Before the match, Stirling captain and scrum half Orla Proctor was flag-bearer for the England Ladies team.

In the final, they conceded a try to Shawlands but Stirling ran out 5-1 winners.

Coach Donna Paterson said: “I’m proud of the way the girls played for each other with such a positive attitude towards each game.

“The whole team tackled and were able to move the ball in difficult conditions.”
