Arrests made after break-in

-

Two men have been arrested after breaking in to a building site in Thornhill.

The pair – aged 22 and 23 – were spotted on the Norrieston Glebe housing project at Main Street at around 1am on Tuesday morning.

A member of the public alerted police to their presence and, although they ran off into the night empty handed when officers arrived, their vehicle was recovered.

The duo were then traced and apprehended by police in Stirling City Centre on Tuesday morning.

The 23-year-old from Duntocher and 22-year-old from Stirling were then charged with being on premises with an intent to steal and are due to appear in court.

A quantity of small plant and building materials was also found in their vehicle and Inspector Gerry McMenemy of Callander Police is appealing for anyone who has had any such goods go missing to come forward.

He said:“Enquiries are still ongoing with regards the stolen property. Anyone who has had small plant or building materials stolen should get in touch with police.

“Thankfully these men were caught as they were breaking into the unit and, as a member of the public alerted officers to suspicious activity, no property was stolen.”
