Art fair pairing is first for dad and daughter
A Callander-based father and daughter will be showcasing their work together for the very first time on the Galleria Luti stand at this weekend’s Glasgow Contemporary Art Fair at the Old Fruitmarket.
After realising his love of art at school, Peter Luti went on to make it his life by studying ceramics at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee and Goldsmiths College, London, going on to lecture in art and design before eventually finishing his teaching career as head of expressive arts at Glasgow University.
Daughter Marsha, who will be showing her figurative pastel work alongside her father’s paintings, confesses that it wasn’t actually her dad who was her initial inspiration.
“Although I have grown up watching dad create inspiring ceramics and paintings, it is my grandfather on my mum’s side that I really take after,”said Marsha.“When I was a tot, I would sit for hours watching him draw the most fantastic and technically brilliant portraits. It really is a family affair here!”
The fair is on from today (Friday) until Sunday and opening times are: Friday 6-9pm; Saturday 9.30am-5.30pm and Sunday 10am-5pm.
The opening tonight (Friday) is a preview evening, with tickets priced at £9 plus booking fee, offering guests live music, courtesy of the Ritz Trio, and complimentary champagne while entrance fees on the Saturday and Sunday will be just £3 per adult with children under 15 free of charge.
