Revving up for a great show

-

The sights and sounds of classic cars are coming to Bridge of Allan next month.

Stirling and District Classic Car Club will hold its 12th annual charity show in Strathallan Games Park, Bridge of Allan on Sunday, May 15.

Profits from the show will be donated to three charities - Stirling Young Carers, CHAS and Alzheimers Scotland.

A club spokesman said:“As in previous years we expect to show more than 500 classic vehicles, the type many readers will remember from their youth.

“The majority of exhibits will be cars with a selection of motorcycles and commercial vehicles. In addition a variety of stalls, birds of prey and children’s rides will make it a day for all the family to enjoy and also provide funds for our three really worthwhile charities.”

Music will be provided by Bury the Hobbit and the Alloa Bowmar Pipe Band while sponsors Douglas Park Mini, Stirling have donated a raffle prize of a new Mini for the weekend plus dinner and bed and breakfast, for two, at a local hotel.

The spokesman added:“The standard of vehicles brought to the show is exceptional and the owners spend many hours preparing their entry for the show.

“The competition for the best car in the show is always difficult to judge. Last year’s winner was a 1969 Riley 4/72 owned by Jim McLeod of the Tayside Classic Car Club. The runner up was a 1934 Morris 10/4 owned by William Jardine.

“Both cars were exceptional and we are sure this year will reveal vehicles of a similar quality.”

Gates open at 11am and car parking is free. Entry to the event is £5 per adult and no charge for children under 15.
