Two young fighters from Bannockbur­n Boxing Club impressed on the Lochee Boys Show card at Dundee last week.

Junior McDonagh was first in the ring and he boxed and out manoeuvred a local lad to win all three rounds in a unanimous decision.

And colleague Jay Tinlin was in action for only 40 seconds - stopping his Perth Club opponent with a flurry of punches for his second win inside the distance. Muckhart Izat Medal No 1 (April 16): Div 1 - 1 John Fyfe 74 (7) 67; 2 Neil McDonald 71 (2) 69. Div 2 - 1 William Ellis 86 (17) 69; 2 William Wilson 89 (19) 70.

Ian Donaldson Trophy three-man team event (April 17): 1 ASlan Bruce, David Landsburgh and Scott Smith 58.3; 2 W Wilson, I Heeley and K Malcolm 58.8.

Wednesday Medal (April 20): 1 David Easton 69 (4) 65; 2 equal Dougie Gibbons and Frank Lindin 79 (9) 70. The bonus for Dougie was his hole-in-one on Arndean 6th 190 yards.

Dunblane New Harry Barton continued an impressive start to the season by returning another great score of two under par 67 to win the Scratch Class at the weekend. With only one dropped shot at 14 and birdies at 3, 6 and 13 Harry also had the best net score of the day to pick up the overall winner’s prize donated by Paul Jamieson on Pro’s Day.

In First Class, Paul Alcorn (8) played on Friday and had another win with 67 and better inward half (bih) including a birdie 3 at 10, than Joe Patton (5) who also played on Friday. Third place went to Tom Smith (11) on 68 with Derek Cullen (8) fourth on 69 and bih than junior Craig Jackman (6).

Two players returned 67 in the Second Class but despite double bogeys at 10 and 11, Nick Pascazio (16) edged out Ali Schulz (16) with a better last six (bl6). Bill Marshall (14) then had his second success of the week taking third spot on 68 and bih than Hal Mills (15).

In the Third Class honours went to Kenny Ross (24) on 67 highlighte­d by a birdie at 16. Five players then returned 68 but runner-up was Ian Reid (18) who played on Friday and had a bih than Mick Boyle (18). He in turn had a bih than Gary Aitken (18) who edged out James Brown (24) and Andreas Lonberg (20).

There was an encouragin­g entry for the first Midweek Medal of the year last Wednesday.

Once again Harry Barton took the Scratch honours this time on 74 and bl6 than Tommy Green.

Bill Marshall (14) won the First Class on 68 and bih than John Scales (10) with third place going to Bobby Watson (12) on 69 and bih than Tommy Green (5).

In the Second Class, Charlie Hislop (16) won on 66 with Harry Barton Snr (22) runner up on 68. Third place went to Tony Kerr (23) who had a bih than Ian Auldjo (15).

The draws for all the KO competitio­ns are now posted and players are encouraged to arrange to play their ties as soon as convenient and not leave it to the last minute.

This weekend is the Spring Meeting, OCT Qualifying Round 1 and Handicap Strokeplay Championsh­ip Round 1. Players wishing to play on Friday are reminded the course is closed for a visiting party until 1.30pm.

Dunblane New Ladies There was a great turnout of ladies and super weather on opening day recently when the Opening Greensomes was played. It was a close game with a narrow win for captain Lesley Blair’s team.

A few days later there was a Texas Scramble which was won by Liz Stewart, Myra MacLeod and Joyce Brown (62), a shot ahead of Lesley Blair, Celia Kenny and Sheila Durward (63).

The Nancy McLaren Stableford Pairs was played earlier in the year than usual but still attracted a good number of entries. The winners were Jan Higgins and Audrey Wilkie with 42pts. Runners up were Nancy Lyons and Michele Abel with 39pts.

The Coronation Fours was won by Alison Brown and Janise Grant with 35 pts. Lorna Brown and Sheila Campbell came a close second also with 35 pts with Alison and Janise winning with a better score on the last six holes.

The good weather this week brought out a field of almost 50 ladies for the Spring Meeting. Amy Thomson won the Silver Division with a 73 but the Bronze Division produced the overall winners with Carole Mackay coming in with a 68 and Janice Stewart and Vera Calderwood both with a 69. Stirling Seniors Stirling Gents seniors’team played their first match of the 2016 C&LRML season at home against local rivals Alloa and performed strongly in tough conditions to win 4½-1½

Results: Ian Muir and Duncan McCallum won 4 and 3; Stuart Brown and James McPherson won 4 and 3; Derek Gavin and Alasdair MacLennan won 4 and 3; Colin Peebles and George Clelland lost 3 and 2; Jimmy McArthur and Richard Young halved; Mike Fabisiak and Ian Cockshoot won 1 up. Bridge of Allan The Friday Senior Nine-Hole Stableford was well supported and a new winner fir the 2016 season was Ralph McNaught, who returned an excellent score of 19 points. Second place went to Keith Pyper who just took second place on a count back over Alan Booth, both scoring 18 points.

In Saturday’s Presidents Prize Qualifier, there were some exceptiona­l scores none more so than John Maitland’s net 61 to win the A class. Second was William Millar and third Derek Macgowan, both returning net 64s.

In the B class, Alan Beaton proved victorious with his net 64. Hugh Dent took second place with a 65 and David Santi third with a net 66.

The best eight net scores from each class qualify for the knockout stages and the draw is posted on the Noticeboar­d.

The first Wednesday Nine-Hole Stableford of the season will be played today.
