BINOS BEAT ANNAN

Encouragement for fans as pair net in win

Stirling signed off in front of their own fans with a good win over promotion-chasing Annan.

On the day their U20 squad were presented with the Development League East trophy, it was fitting that two of the key players from that side scored the goals.

Moses Olanrewaju gave Stuart McLaren’s men an early lead and Ross Kavanagh sealed the victory just three minutes after coming on as a substitute before Josh Todd’s late counter.

It was a first senior goal on day to remember for Kavanagh and it was also a notable afternoon for Jordan Herron, another development graduate, who made his first-team debut in the closing stages.

Season 2015/16 has largely been one to forget but this result at least squared off Albion’s record - 13 wins, nine draws and 13 defeats - even if the “what ifs” remain.

Stirling head for Broadwood for their final fixture on Saturday just six points behind fourth-placed Clyde.

For all the disappointments of this campaign, it wouldn’t have taken much more for McLaren’s men to be making the short journey to Cumbernauld with everything to play for.

Annan will be hoping the Binos can do them a turn this weekend. Jim Chapman’s men were top when they lost here in December and a second Forthbank reverse has seen them slip out of the play-off places despite having scored in every match but
