DRIVEN CRAZY

-

Dear Editor, Hard as I try to comprehend, I’m flummoxed by the logic, or lack of it, of some drivers - and particularly those who travel between Larbert and Stirling on the A9 through Plean.

I am in no way advocating that any driver breaks the speed limit at any point on the road, but is it entirely necessary to drive at 40 miles an hour or less in a 50 or 60 mph speed limit when the driving conditions are perfectly fine? And even if it were necessary, can someone then explain to me the logic of those same vehicles then continuing to do 40mph through the 30mph village of Plean - including past the local primary school which at certain times of the day is a 20mph zone?

Are these drivers in some sort of distress in the vein of Keanu Reeves in “Speed” where their foot has to been stuck at a constant rate on the accelerator or their car will suddenly blow up?

As a regular traveller on this road it is something that can be seen day in, day out. Can I at least ask that if they are content to drive at a slower pace on faster routes - where they are more likely to hit a squirrel than a human being and merely create the temptation for some frustrated drivers to use risky overtaking manoeuvres - that they do the villagers of Plean the courtesy of employing the same logic instead of endangering life and limb.

Yours Karen McIntosh by email.
