Top acts set to play this year’s Scribbler’s

A host of top acts that will play at a Stirling music festival have been revealed.

‘The Voice’singer Laura Begley is just one of the many artist set to take to the stage at this year’s Scribbler’s Picnic Charity Music Festival in Stirling on May 8.

The family-friendly festival - which is held at Stirling Rugby Club - aims to attract enthusiast­ic music lovers of all ages along to enjoy an array of acts whilst raising thousands for charity.

Bon Jovi covers band Bad Name, legendary singersong­writer Benny Gallagher of Gallagher and Lyle and Motley Pru – a band drawing all of its members from Stirling’s Prudential campus - will delight the crowds at the annual event.

The non-profit event is run entirely run by volunteers in memory of Stirling musician, teacher and former Observer columnist Graham‘The Scribbler’ Whitelaw who died of cancer in 2001.

Now celebratin­g its 15th year – the unique day out is run entirely by volunteers and donates all of its proceeds to cancer related charities.

Maggie’s Forth Valley build fund, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Strathcarr­on Hospice, Children’s Hospice Associatio­n Scotland (CHAS) and Macmillan Cancer Support have all benefited from the event over the years with more than £100,000 being raised for charitable causes.

More than 200 musicians and singers will be performing music of all genres including folk, indie, rock, ska and covers.

There will be a range of charity and commercial stalls, tombola, raffle, five-a-side football, dancing, food vendors, bar, kids shows and inflatable­s.
