Local causes will battle it out for support at soup night

-

Five organisations are set to fight it out to win funding next month.

A meeting of the Stirling Soup volunteer team saw five local projects shortlisted to pitch for community support at the first Stirling Soup event on Friday May 27. Each project will make their case for support to an audience of local people, each of whom will donate £5 or more for an evening of music, food and community collaboration. The project finding most favour with those present will take away all donations and use the cash to make their idea a reality.

The full list of projects who will pitch for support is being kept under wraps until the event, with causes representing a wide range of interests and groups within the community.

Kathryn Welch, Stirling Soup founder said: “The projects cover causes as diverse as children’s sport, opportunities for older people and community facilities, and we can’t wait to hear them pitch for support from Stirling people.”

Sainsbury’s Drip Road have offered to donate vegetables and other essentials to the event, which will be transformed into soup thanks to the time and efforts of Sprinkle Happiness Catering (based at Stirling Enterprise Park). Tickets to the event are going fast, and those who’d like to attend to discover local projects and enjoy a night of live music, delicious food and great company are being encouraged to reserve their ticket in advance.

Live music will be provided by local musicians Iain Morrison and George Gilman, hand and arm mini-massages will be offered by the Green Team at Lush Stirling, and bread has been donated by the Riverside Bakery.

Tickets to Stirling Soup, which takes place at the Albert Halls at 7pm, can be reserved via stirlingsoup.eventbrite. com. All entry donations (£5 or more) will be donated to the project securing the most votes on the night.
