DR ELISABETH WILSON, LIBERAL DEMOCRATS

-

Elisabeth was a social worker and then taught management to overseas students. She is a director of a local development trust and a community councillor. Her previous experience includes serving on a health board and co-founding a tree-planting group.

Elisabeth is married with children and grandchildren and is a Quaker.

Scottish Liberal Democrats want Scotland to be the best again. With a penny for education we will raise half a billion pounds EXTRA to move us back up the international rankings. This investment will : Raise attainment in every classroom.

Expand early education. Build our colleges back up. Reverse cuts to councils. Empower teachers to get the best for every child.

We will do this by putting a penny on income tax. This has been judged fair by independent research.

The least well off will pay nothing extra. It will help us be the best again.

At this election, the Scottish Liberal Democrats are offering positive changes to make Scotland Fit for the Future.

As well as our radical education plans I will fight for:

Quality healthcare, especially GPs, social care, and mental health. Safeguarding our planet for future generations by meeting climate change targets with action for warmer homes, renewable energy, and improved public transport.

I also believe new homes should not be at the expense of valuable greenbelt. And I also want an end to increasing centralisation of public services such as the police, with power returned to local communities, and respect for public sector workers.

Scottish Liberal Democrat MSPs punch above their weight at Holyrood – fighting court closures, speaking up for mental health and seeking a fair deal for farmers.

For a strong voice for Stirling at Holyrood, vote Scottish Liberal Democrat on 5th May.
