Lead in probe into fire

Public thanked

- Robert Fairnie

Police officers hunting a gang of youths responsible for a fire at a derelict building in Cambusbarron are following a“definitive line of enquiry”.

The Observer reported last week how fire crews spent more than three hours battling flames at an unused outbuilding, near to Gartur House on Quarry Road.

A group of four male vandals, described as being between 15 and 17 yearsof-age, were thought to be responsible for breaking in to the building and setting a number of small fires. A nearby JCB vehicle was also vandalised with a window being smashed.

But officers investigating the incident are hopeful they will be able to identify the responsible parties imminently, and would like to thank the public for their support.

Chief Inspector Lynn Ratcliff, Stirling Area Commander, said: “Nobody has been charged yet but we are following a very definitive line of enquiry.

“We would like to thank the public for their support and we are hopeful that we will soon be able to identify the culprits.”

Fire crews from Bridge of Allan, Dunblane and Doune were called to the incident at around 8pm on Sunday April 24.

They arrived to find the building “well alight”. Water jets were used and the flames were put out by 11.20pm when the incident was handed over to police.

Officers were last week appealing to any members of the public with information to come forward while looking into CCTV footage and liaising with Schoolbased officers.
