Talented Sian puts paintings on show before heading for New York academy

-

A talented Balfron artist is set to have some of her best work showcased at the Green Gallery in Buchlyvie.

Sian Smith’s oil paintings will be on show as the gallery’s summer exhibition – her second solo exhibition – opens on Sunday and runs until June 19.

The 24-year-old, who will take up a place at the New York Academy of Art in August, sold out all 18 works from her first exhibition at the same gallery last year.

Also featured at the gallery will be stunning works from Nikki Monaghan, Marion Drummond, Carol Moore and Rosie Playfair.

An array of ceramics, glass, jewellery and limited edition prints will also be on show.

Gallery boss Becky Walker said: “It’s a nice fresh, summer exhibition with a real mix of quirky and traditional work.

“In addition to Sian we’ve got some other new artists featured so we’re really excited about that. We would encourage people to come in and have a look.”

The Green Gallery will also be auctioning off one of Sian’s pieces to raise money which will help fund her New York move.

A total of 50 tickets will be available at £20 each before a winner is drawn and awarded the prized painting.

The gallery will be open from Friday to Wednesday, closed on Thursdays during the duration of the exhibition.
