Aquathlon Championships Balfron pupils took in the Scottish Water National Schools Aquathlon Championships on Tuesday, April 26, at the Dollan Aqua Centre, East Kilbride - the biggest championships to date with more than 55 schools represented and around 300 participants on the start line.

The weather was cold and windy but that didn’t get the competitiors down and their enthusiasm was great to see!

There was even a flurry of snow and hailstones to greet the young athletes.

Pupils from S1 to S6 raced in their year groups with S1/ S2 swimming 300m and running 2km; S3/4 swimming 400m and running 3km and finally S5/6 swimming 500m and running 4km.

Six pupils took part: Isla Britton, Jack Primrose, Francis McGinn, Callum Byrne (who finished first in the first heat for the S1 boys), Jamie Wastling and Rory Strachan.
