Whist Drive The monthly wee whist takes place in the Reading Room on Wednesday, May 11 from 7.30pm when all who enjoy playing are welcome. There is a cup of tea at the interval and a small raffle. Bowling Winners in Monday’s points game were Jay McDonald, Alan Hamilton, Donald Smith, George Goodall and Donald Retson. The Crown Triples, the first of the club only competitio­ns this season, was enjoyed on Sunday as a Round Robin game. The winners were Frank Brown, Robert More and Max Taylor. Thanks The Cross Keys Hotel hosted a successful quiz last Thursday in memory of young Matthew Gardiner. As a result nearly £1200 was raised for Brain Tumour Research. Motorcycle­s Many visited the vintage motorcycle­s on their recent Sunday short stop in the village. Organiser Davie Brown thanks all “who put coins in the bucket” and raised £114.21 for Robin House, the children’s hospice at Balloch. Fitness class Fun, engaging, interval based training and body conditioni­ng classes now running in Kippen Village Hall on Mondays from 7.30-8.30pm, Wednesdays from 9.30-10.30am and Thursdays from 6.10-7am. Plant and Home Baking Sale In aid of the new school and community garden and The Ripple Retreat respite centre for young children with cancer, there is a plant and home baking sale in the village hall on Saturday, May 14 from 11am-2pm.
