Top author raves about new edition of a classic
Robertson hails Light on Drumyat a great tale and a great read
A brand new illustrated edition of a children’s classic by a Stirling author set to be published in November has been described by award winning author James Robertson as ‘a great tale’.
‘Light on Dumyat’ by Rennie McOwan is now in its fifth edition and has been specially illustrated for a new young readership.
It is scheduled for publication on November 3.
This classic tale of adventure, friendship and courage is greatly influenced by the author’s childhood.
Aimed at seven to11-year-olds, there are no phones or iPads, just four resourceful children roaming free, having adventures and being at one with their environment.
James Robertson’s novel The Testament of Gideon Mack was published in 2006 and longlisted for the year’s Booker Prize.
His 2010 book, And the Land Lay Still, received the Saltire Society Scottish Book of the Year award.
Now he is enthusing about Light on Dumyat, and encourages young readers to pick it up and enjoy a great read.
He said: “Light on Dumyat is a great tale that hurries along at a terrific pace.
“The writing is uncluttered and direct, and there is plenty of humour and good observation in the way Rennie McOwan draws his characters.
