Free workshop is aimed at sheep farmers

-

Sheep farmers have been invited to attend a free workshop focusing on effective worm and fluke strategies at Stirling Agricultural Centre on Tuesday, November 1.

The workshop, which runs from noon-4.30pm, is one of seven events being held on farms or local auction markets around Scotland in the coming weeks funded by Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) and delivered by vet and sheep specialist Dr Fiona Lovatt of Flock Health Ltd with input from local vets and agricultural merchants.

The Stirling workshop will look at best practice in diagnosis, control, treatment and pasture management in combating both fluke and worm problems.

With input from Clyde Vets and Carrs Billington, the workshop will also include practical demonstrations helping farmers to apply the principles to their own flocks and highlighting approaches to handling and weighing animals as well as faecal egg counting.

Michael Blanche, QMS Knowledge Transfer Specialist and sheep farmer, added:“The main aim of these workshops is to assist sheep farmers to confidently develop effective worm and fluke strategies for their own farms for the next 12 months.”

Attendance is free and lunch is provided. To reserve a place please phone QMS on 0131 472 4040 or email info@qmscotland.co.uk.

Details of the other workshops can be found at www.qmscotland.co.uk/ events.
