-

A 64-year-old woman was targeted by cruel thieves who stole her handbag and purse while she was out shopping in Stirling city centre.

Police are hunting for three females in connection with the offence, which is believed to have happened as the victim was in a shop in Port Street.

The woman told officers that she felt herself being nudged when surrounded by the trio at around 1.30pm on Monday.

One of the female suspects is described as aged around 50 with blonde hair, of slim build and average height, while another is said to be aged around 30, of slim build and average in height.

This third female is described as being aged 14, slim and wearing a navy jacket with long dark hair.

All three women are thought to be from Eastern Europe.

Inspector Jim Young said: “We would encourage people to ensure their purse and bag is zipped up when shopping. If anyone feels someone nudging them they should check to see if their purse is still secure.

“Ward officers will be increasing their patrols within the city centre in the lead up to Christmas so we ask people to make it difficult for pick-pockets by being vigilant and securing personal property.”

Anyone with any information on this offence should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
