School’s delight after winning major award
Bannockburn High School have won a top Scottish award.
They collected the most inspiring or innovative project gong at the recent Scottish Government Quality Improvement Awards.
It was for a project to improve learning in school, coupled with work to increase pleasure in reading and literacy skills of S1-S3 pupils.
Three other Stirling teams were shortlisted for the awards, which were held last Tuesday in Glasgow.
A collaborative project involving Stirling Council adult learning team, East Plean Nursery and NHS Forth Valley department of nutrition and dietetics was shortlisted for the ‘co-production with Families and Our Services Award’.
Maternity staff from NHS Forth Valley were shortlisted for the quality improvement champion award, for their work in Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire.
Bannockburn High Head James McParland said: “This is testament to the work of staff and pupils within the school and the creative approaches that we have taken to incorporate the improvement methodology into our work.
“We are also exceptionally grateful for the staff at Waterstones, Stirling for their support and advice in developing our reading initiative and we look forward to progressing with our work by using the improvement methodology to enhance nurturing approaches across all faculties.”
