School’s delight after winning major award

Bannockbur­n High School have won a top Scottish award.

They collected the most inspiring or innovative project gong at the recent Scottish Government Quality Improvemen­t Awards.

It was for a project to improve learning in school, coupled with work to increase pleasure in reading and literacy skills of S1-S3 pupils.

Three other Stirling teams were shortliste­d for the awards, which were held last Tuesday in Glasgow.

A collaborat­ive project involving Stirling Council adult learning team, East Plean Nursery and NHS Forth Valley department of nutrition and dietetics was shortliste­d for the ‘co-production with Families and Our Services Award’.

Maternity staff from NHS Forth Valley were shortliste­d for the quality improvemen­t champion award, for their work in Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmanna­nshire.

Bannockbur­n High Head James McParland said: “This is testament to the work of staff and pupils within the school and the creative approaches that we have taken to incorporat­e the improvemen­t methodolog­y into our work.

“We are also exceptiona­lly grateful for the staff at Waterstone­s, Stirling for their support and advice in developing our reading initiative and we look forward to progressin­g with our work by using the improvemen­t methodolog­y to enhance nurturing approaches across all faculties.”
