Dickson fireshome his‘best everstrike’

Sean Dickson admits his equaliser against Arbroath at Forthbank on Saturday was the best goal he has ever scored – and was thrilled the cameras were there to capture it!

The 24-year-old smashed home a stunning 25-yard volley in stoppage time, just a couple of minutes after pulling one back, to earn Albion a dramatic 2-2 draw.

Dickson’s wondergoal was widely shared on social media, with both the SPFL and BBC Sport Scotland promoting the ex-Stenhousemuir midfielder’s sweet strike, which had been captured by Arbroath’s cameraman.

He said: “I’ve scored some decent goals in the past and I scored at Ibrox, which meant a lot, but technically I think that must be the best one.

“I just hope someone was there videoing it this time. These new balls can go anywhere when you hit them. I struck it cleanly but I thought at first it was maybe hitting the bar or just going over but it dipped at the last minute.

“I’ll be honest and I say I didn’t think there was enough time left when I scored my first goal – I didn’t ask the referee how long there was to go.

“It was funny after we equalised because the boys were screaming for more time because we wanted to try to get the winner. The Arbroath fans were giving me a bit of stick in the first half. I’m not sure why but it was just banter, and it’s good for the game, so I thought I’d give them some back.”

Dickson had mixed feelings about the result, saying: “I don’t think it should have got that far because I thought we controlled the game. I think we deserved the point at least because we must have had something like 15 shots.”
