Robotics Challenge On February 20 the Robotics team of Oliver Holden, Jake Duncan, Tully MontgomeryWindsor, Jack Mitchell, Fergus Mitchell and Jamie Warburton attended the Tomorrow’s Engineers Robotics challenge at West Lothian College. This group had beaten off others in school for the right to represent McLaren at this regional qualifier and therefore attended the competition full of confidence. On the day they had to deliver a presentation on power supplies in space, perform in a team challenge and also complete the robotics challenge they had been practising for. The confidence and belief that they had in themselves was well founded with each part of the day going even better than they could have hoped for. This culminated in the team winning the heat and progressing to the national finals in Birmingham where they will represent McLaren High School and hopefully return with a trophy to show for their fantastic efforts! Mock Interviews A great day was had on Monday, February 27 with Mock Interviews taking place for all senior pupils in S5 and S6. Thanks to all the interviewers who gave up their time to help out in this worthwhile exercise. There was lots of positive feedback from both pupils and interviewers. Some of the interviewers said: “All the pupils I interviewed were excellent” and “I wish I had something like this when I was younger.” Pupils were equally enthusiastic, saying: “It was a great opportunity for me to experience” and “I was really nervous to start with but it turned out to be a really worthwhile experience.”
