Choir tunes up for 40th birthday

Strathendr­ick Singers are tuning up for their 40th anniversar­y concert.

Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana will be the main performanc­e in Killearn Kirk on Sunday March 26 at 7pm.

However there will also be the world premiere of Aran Browning’s A Quiet Life, written specifical­ly for the choir through a scheme called Adopt A Composer, run by Making Music in conjunctio­n with BBC Radio 3. Radio 3 will be on hand to record the performanc­e.

Puccini’s heartbreak­ing opera, Madama Butterfly, is screened live at the Vue and the Macrobert on Thursday, March 30 at 7.15pm, and on Sunday, April 2 at 2pm. It will be led by Royal Opera music director Antonio Pappano.
