County unveil new coaching set-up
.. and player signings bolster young squad
Stirling County have enlisted three former head coaches in a seven-strong team to take over the reins following the recent departure of head coach David Adamson.
And they have also recruited two of the country’s most experienced players to boost the young Bridgehaugh squad.
Rather than hunt out a like-forlike replacement, the Bridgehaugh outfit have pulled together a coaching cabal containing individuals with impressive playing and coaching credentials at both club and international level.
The three former head coaches involved are Eddie Pollock, Ian Jardine and Graeme Young, with Pollock looking after the scrum on a consultancy basis and Jardine and Young overseeing defence. Young will also take the lead from a coaching perspective on match days.
Former Scotland age-grade and Sevens scrum-half Peter Jericevich has been recruited from GHA and will combine his playing responsibilities with coaching both attack and strength and conditioning while former Ayr stalwart Ross Curle is also coming to County.
Current Scotland internationalists Chris Fusaro and Grant Gilchrist will once again be involved as contact and line-out coaches respectively while academy manager Stewart Milne will have a roving role in the set-up.
“We are delighted that Peter Jerecevich has joined Stirling in a dual player/coach role,” said club president and director of rugby John Wright.
“He brings a wealth of experience in both facets and will embrace this opportunity to develop himself and our senior side with style.”
Alongside Jericevich, the Bridgehaugh outfit have added some more serious experience and firepower to their backline in the shape of Curle.
“Obviously we are delighted to add a winner like Ross to our squad. This is exactly what we need to complement our young side and we look forward to announcing some more exciting player additions in the near future,” added Wright.
