Golden couple fifty years wed
Back to their Freuchie roots for a big bash
A Torbrex couple marked fifty years of marriage at the weekend.
Robin and Wanda Sharp, both 71, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Saturday (July 1).
The pair had their wedding reception at the The Lomond Hills Hotel in Freuchie, and returned there to mark the milestone occasion.
The couple met when they both worked in a hospital for mentally ill Stratheden Hospital in Cupar, and both hailed from Fife.
Robin spent most of his working life with Scottish Power, and continued working part-time up until around six years ago. Wanda retired when she was around 50, having latterly worked with Pearl Assurance in Stirling, and has helped to care for her grandchildren Aaron, Stephanie, Mollie and Owen. The couple have two sons – Chris and Jonathon.
Chris said: “My dad has always enjoyed playing golf and is now a member and greens convener at Tryst Golf Club in Larbert. My mum complained for years about being a golfing widow however when she retired she took up the game and enjoys it. She plays at Braehead Golf Club.
“They enjoy their annual holidays to Spain to the area of Torres Pacheco and try to get over at least once a year to my brother’s holiday property.
“They have been a wonderful support to me recently. I have a chronic condition which has resulted in me being pensioned off from Police Scotland due to ill health and they have been a wonderful support during this hard time.”
