Care worker faces discipline panel
A care worker is accused of causing a disabled resident to fall from his wheelchair during a dancefloor incident .
Cameron Robertson will appear before a Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) fitness to practise panel later this month.
It is claimed that in October 2015, while employed by Richmond Fellowship Scotland Limited, Springfield Road, Braehead, Robertson went on to a dance floor at a birthday party with a resident, held the sides of his wheelchair and spun him around, causing the wheelchair to tip over and injuring the person.
Robertson is accused of failing to seek medical assistance or call an ambulance when the resident sustained a head injury and moving him without seeking medical advice first.
It is also alleged that Robertson slept on duty in July and September 2015.
He is accused of failing to administer the anti-sickness drug domperidone to a resident in October 2015.
It is also alleged that, while working as a care assistant for HC One Limited at Orchard Care Centre in Tullibody, Robertson slept on duty during a night shift twice in May 2014.
Robertson worked for Richmond Fellowship for four months in 2015. The charity declined to comment on the hearing or allegations facing Robertson.
A spokesperson for Orchard Care Centre said: “The health, safety and wellbeing of those we support are our highest priorities.
“When these allegations were brought to our attention we acted immediately to suspend the staff member involved and inform all the appropriate authorities.
“We will always act to protect individuals in our care and never tolerate the type of behaviour which is alleged to have occurred.
“As the fitness to practise process is ongoing it would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”
The hearing will take place at the Scottish Social Services Council in Dundee, starting on August 8.
