New licence will mean earlier Sunday start at the Byre Inn

-

Callander’s Byre Inn has been granted a variation and transfer of its premises licence, including allowing it an earlier start.

Pawky Inn Ltd had applied to Stirling District Licensing Board for several amendments to the description including a Sunday starting hour of 11am instead of 12.30pm, off sales facilities from 10am until 10pm, conference facilities, outdoor drinking facilities outwith core hours, an increase in capacity from 130 to 150 and other changes.

At a meeting of the board last Thursday premises manager Jason Allardyce said:“Historically the bar has been open at midday.

“What we are proposing is, because we have a self-catering element to the business with a cottage, we are proposing to open up for breakfast as well and morning coffees, then throughout the day. That’s the main difference.”

Local councillor Martin Earl, a member of the licensing board, said it seemed the premises were looking to expand the range of functions available, but told fellow board members that there was only one other property in the area suggesting the risk of any nuisance caused by the changes would be minimal.

Councillor Jim Thomson said he was satisfied, given the premises were isolated, to allow plans for an outdoor seating area where people would be allowed to take drinks.

The board unanimously approved the application.
