Charity champions Stirling Soup will return to the city next month, giving five more small community projects the chance to pitch for support.

Soup 4 will take place on Sunday, September 24 at the Mayfield Centre from 3-5pm, as part of Stirling’s first Festival of Volunteering, with entertainment provided by Stirling Wellbeing Choir.

Organiser Kathryn Welch said:“The concept of Soup is simple. You donate £5 (or more if you can) for a lively afternoon of food and live music, listen to pitches from small community projects who want to improve life in Stirling and vote for your favourite.

“At the end, the winner takes away all of the donations to make their idea a reality.

“Our last event in March saw £615 donated to the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP), a group that supports retired people in Stirling to volunteer.

“We’ll be hearing back from RSVP next month, as well as from five new community projects.

“If you’d like to be one of them, applications to pitch are open until Monday, August 21.”

Inspired by the movie “I, Daniel Blake”and the Bag for Katie campaign, there will also be a special collection at Soup 4.

Kathryn explained: “We’ll be collecting donations of sanitary towels and tampons for Stirling Food Bank to help local women who are living in poverty so please bring along a donation if you can.”

Tickets for Soup 4 should be reserved in advance from www. stirlingsoup.eventbrite. com.

Entry is by £5 donation on the door. Projects who would like to apply to pitch can email stirlingsoup@outlook. com for details.
