Police probe into serious assault

Man badly attacked after speaking to driver

Police investigat­ing a serious assault which took place in Plean at the weekend are following lines of enquiry.

A 21-year-old man required hospital treatment for a cut on his head after being attacked by another male on Main Street at around 10.45pm.

Officers believe a weapon was used by the culprit.

The victim was driving his Vauxhall Corsa, which is light blue in colour, from the Stirling direction when he noticed another old-style, dark-coloured Corsa driving erraticall­y and aggressive­ly behind him.

After pulling over and approachin­g the other vehicle to speak with the driver a man in the passenger seat got out the car and assaulted the man.

The injured man then returned to his car before approachin­g two police officers for assistance.

Officers confirmed yesterday (Tuesday) that they were following a number of lines of enquiry, but want anyone with informatio­n about this incident to come forward.

They are treating this as an isolated incident.

The suspect is described as white, around 6ft 2ins tall with a stocky build and with a shaved head.

He was wearing a dark grey Adidas jogging suit with black stripes down each arm.

Police are also hoping to trace the driver of the vehicle – believed to be a blonde-haired female. Detective Kenny McAndrew from Stirling CID is urging anyone who can help identify these people to contact officers immediatel­y.

He said: “The victim sustained a cut to his head following this attack, which resulted in him requiring treatment at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

“Our inquiries are continuing to trace the suspect and the driver of the vehicle, who is believed to be a blonde-haired woman in her twenties.

“Anyone who can assist in identifyin­g these individual­s, or who has informatio­n relevant to this investigat­ion is urged to contact police immediatel­y.”
