No action over body that lay for two days

- Robert Fairnie

An investigation into the circumstances which led to the discovery of a man’s body in a van in Dunipace has concluded.

David Penman, a 46-year-old father-ofthree from Denny, was found dead inside a vehicle parked at the passing place near to Boards Quarry on the road to Northfield on December 15.

Members of the public had called police about the vehicle two days earlier.

Mr Penman had not been reported as a missing person and the van had not been involved in a collision.

The Police Investigations Review Commissioner (PIRC) confirmed shortly after the body was found that they would be reviewing Police Scotland’s handling of the case.

And the Crown Office said this week that they had considered the report and no further action would be taken.

A spokesperson said: “The procurator fiscal received a report in connection with the death of a 46-year-old man following the discovery of his body on December 15.

“The investigation into the death and its circumstances has now concluded.

“After a full and careful consideration of the case the procurator fiscal concluded that no fur-ther investigation is required.

“The nearest relatives have been advised of the results of our investigation.”
