Volunteers who have transformed a nature area are up for another award.

Doune Community Woodland Group’s work at Doune Ponds has been nominated for the Fields in Trust’s UK best park award.

People can vote on their favourite local park online by visiting www. fieldsintrust.org/bestpark before November 3 and winners will be announced on November 29.

Stirling MSP Bruce Crawford encouraged locals to get online and vote.

He said: “It is great to see Doune Ponds getting the same recognition in being nominated for the UK’s best park, with places like Holyrood Park in Edinburgh and Queens Park in Glasgow also in the running.

“The competition is strong but I know that Doune Ponds has got what it takes to win.”

The woodland group took on management of the 40-acre nature trail from owners Moray Estates three years ago and has since restored paths and made many improvements.

They won the small community woodland category at this year’s Scotland’s Finest Woods Awards.
