Short cut to charity cash

- Chris Marzella

A Drymen mum is to feel the chill this winter after a drastic new haircut to help charities.

Mum-of-two Michelle Eddleston (31) donated her long locks to the Little Princess Trust.

Fitness instructor Michelle decided that now was the time to go under the scissors and make a difference.

She was joined by her husband Michael, who helped with the trim.

She donated the hair and £500 to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair through illness.

All other funds raised will go to children’s charity CHAS.

Michelle said:“I don’t really remember a time without my bun and it seems to have become part of my identity.

“Most people are shocked to learn how much hair is actually up there. Well it’s a whole 25 inches.

“I thought about doing it years ago and I have two young girls of my own, Freya and Aria, who are super-girly.

“If either of them ever became poorly I’m not sure they would fully grasp the situation but I know they would both understand losing their princess hair. This is what has encouraged me to make this decision.”

She added:“I got married in July so I decided to wait until after the wedding to do it.

“The night before I got it cut the girls couldn’t wait to see it.”

Once her ponytail was clipped she decided to brave the shave and get rid of the rest of her hair. Michelle has raised over £3000 so far. To donate visit www. justgiving.com/fundraising/ michellebravetheshave.
