Prime lambs

On Tuesday, October 24, Caledonian sold 2442 prime lambs, ewes and tups. All classes of lambs similar to last week, with 1737 lambs (39kg-plus) averaging £74.64. The overall sale averaged 165p pkg (-0.8p pkg on the week).

Top price of the day went to Doune Farms at £99 for a pair of 55kg Beltex Cross lambs. Top price per kg went to RA Campbell and Son, Meikle Seggie at 207p pkg for three Beltex X lambs.

Also forward were 598 cast ewes and tups. Ewes were easier to cash, with the overall average up £7.66 on the week. Heavy ewes (196) averaged £74.83 selling to £99 from Ferguson Bros, Gillanders­land, Linlithgow.
