Eightsome reel from Fintry stars

Tries galore see Endrick climb the table

- Tom Yuill

Strathendrick ................... 57 Loch Lomond ..................... 0 Eight tries from Endrick continued their good run against a Loch Lomond side who have lost 20 out of 25 matches against the Fintry outfit.

The win moves them level on points with Paisley and Lenzie in BT West League Two and with the match between the two cancelled this weekend due to the former’s involvement in the BT Regional Shield semi-final, it gives Endrick who are at home to lowly Millbrae - the chance to leapfrog them into third spot.

Play was towards the visitors’ end from the start and after only eight minutes the home side went ahead when Endrick were penalised and Kyle Campbell kicked the penalty.

From the restart Endrick gathered the ball which passed through several pairs of hands before reaching Angus North.

From inside his own half he took off at speed leaving a trail of would-be tacklers in his wake before handing over to Duncan McEachern who ran in for the opening try, converted by Campbell. By the end of the first half, Endrick had the bonus point in the bag running in five tries - all converted by Campbell.

Prop Conor Gibson, Fraser Graham, James Ogilvy, North and Steven O’Brien went over the line to make it 45-0 at the interval.

Ten minutes into the second half the Endrick pack was on the try-line and Mark Scott muscled his way over to put the 50th point on the board. Campbell kicked the extras.

For the last half hour of the game Endrick were more concerned with keeping their line intact rather than adding to their 52-0 lead.

They proved that they were the masters in this department too and although much of the play in the second half was in and around Endrick’s 22, the score remained unchanged.

In the last minute an Endrick clearance kick was collected in his own half by a Lomond back. He was put under pressure and made a desperate effort to avoid being tackled into touch but effort got a poor reward.

The ball went loose and Ogilvy pounced to charge to the line touching down by the corner flag.

Kyle Campbell looked to have kept his 100 per cent kicking record for the afternoon but this time the ball dropped on to the bar and stayed out.

Endrick: Pretorius; McLaughlin, Graham, North, McEachern; Doyle, Campbell; Gibson, Forsyth, Scott, MacKay, O’Brien, Moore, Ogilvy and Callander. Replacements: Ross, O’Connell, Doug Beaumont, Eckersley. Hamilton and Ainsworth.

Endrick 2nds won by default when their scheduled opponents Garnock were unable to raise a team for Saturday’s match.

This goes down as a 28-0 win for Endrick with a bonus point thrown in.
