Band play MS gig for singer’s mum

-

A band are to play a charity gig at Stirling’s Tolbooth next week in aid of Multiple Sclerosis as the Balfron lead singer’s mum is suffering from the disease.

James Potter has been singer and bass player with Walt Disco since the band formed just over a year ago.

His mum Jenny was diagnosed with MS in the mid 2000s and had to give up her job as a playgroup leader a few years ago as her condition got worse.

Nineteen-year-old James’dad Craig expressed his gratitude to the band for staging the gig and said: “I’m very proud of James for giving up his time and talent to support the funding raising effort for MS to help people like his mum.

“I’m also thankful to all the other Walt Disco members and all the other bands who have given up their time to support the cause.”

“It’s a devastating auto immune disease, that has severe impacts on mobility and gradually erodes the quality of life of those who suffer from it.”

James is studying marine biology at Glasgow University where he met the rest of the band – Lewis Carmichael, David Morgan and Calum Kennedy, who are from Perth, and Mashu Harada from Slovakia.

Walt Disco, who have also played at Glasgow venues King Tuts and Stereo, will be on stage at the Tolbooth on Friday, November 10 at 7.30pm and also appearing are Stirling bands December 91 and Pillow Talk as well as Londonbased band The Step.

Craig said James and members of December 91 and Pillow Talk have all benefited from music sessions and guidance received through the Tolbooth.

Tickets cost £7 and are available from: culturestirling.org/events/ walt-disco-support/ or call 01786 274000. For further information contact Craig on 07881 941251.
