Water big move to boost company
A top aquaculture firm has set up camp at the University of Stirling.
AquaGen, who claim to be the world’s leading supplier of genetics to the salmonid aquaculture sector, this week opened an office at Stirling University Innovation Park (SUIP) where two employees will be based.
The firm currently employ over 200 people in Norway and Chile and the new base will enable them to strengthen its Scottish team and develop relationships with the country’s growing aquaculture industry.
Group marketing director Odd Elvebø said: “I am delighted to announce that we have opened an office at SUIP. It is close to the Institute of Aquaculture, with whom we maintain close ties, and will enable us to reinforce our collaboration with academia.”
Andrew Reeve, who heads up AquaGen’s sales and marketing in the UK and Ireland, added: “Our company is already a major supplier of eggs to the Scottish and Irish salmon farming industries, but there are exciting developments underway in the field of genomic selection and we look forward to sharing these.”
