Futurechef The school recently held its heat for the Futurechef competition. Competitors had to make a cheesecake and garnish it showing creativity and flair. Congratulations to the winners Sam Wheeler and Lucy Henderson and runner-up Emily Wilson. Be Strong Online Young Ambassadors In September nine S3 students plus Head Boy and Head Girl Matthew Chandler and Freya Logan were at Be Strong Online Ambassador training, organised by the Diana Award Foundation in Glasgow. The Be Strong Online programme is designed to provide training for students to learn about the risks and hazards of the online world and to give our representatives the opportunity to become ambassadors to their own peers to provide lessons and develop ideas for implementation through school, addressing issues such as: digital footprint; cyberbullying; peer pressure to conform; self-confidence and handling social media; how to evaluate the quality of online information and how to undertake a digital detox. Following the training the ambassadors have been thinking about and discussing areas to address and how. Their current plan is to start with a series of lessons to their own year group utilising form class time, assemblies and PSE to tackle issues and concerns around “Selfies and Self-confidence”. The ambassadors are Morgan Agnew, Julia Anderson, Evie Hylands, Lucy Malloch, Francis McGinn, Hunny Reed, Lauren Smith, Finn Thompson and Rosie Whyte.
