Autumn fayre Alva Parish Church would like to thank everyone who contribute­d by donating, spending or helping at the recent autumn fayre. To date £2082.48 has been raised. Remembranc­e Sunday There will be a rehearsal in Alva Parish Church Hall on Friday, November 10 at 7pm prompt. Organisati­ons involved carrying colours and wreaths are asked to attend. The parade will leave the church on Sunday, November 12 at 11.45am led by the Clackmanna­n Brass Band. Christmas fayre Alva Community Council is hosting a Christmas fayre in the Cochrane Hall on Saturday, November 18 at 12.30pm featuring an array of stalls selling gifts and crafts from local groups and businesses. Entry is free. There will be festive music by The Christmas Jazz Quartet, singing by Alva Brownies, face painting, tombola, lucky dip, etc, and a refreshmen­t area serving hot and cold drinks and delicious cakes. Ladywell Church Service of Remembranc­e on Sunday is at the earlier time of 10.45am to allow members to observe the silence at 11am. Team One will be on duty. Tomorrow (Thursday), the coffee morning is from 10am till noon and the craft group will meet at 8 Park Crescent at 7.30pm. On Monday, November 13 the Ladies Group meets at 7.30pm. Murrayfiel­d UF Church Remembranc­e Sunday service at normal time plus a short service at the cenotaph at the Cross. Gift Day realised £3500; thanks to all who contribute­d. Parent/toddler group meets on Tuesdays in the church hall from 9.30-11.30am. This weekend is the final one for the shoeboxes. Parish Church Remembranc­e service on Sunday begins at 10.50am and will be conducted by Rev. Dan Harper. Sunday school meets as usual and there will be a creche. Men’s Speaker Group meets at 7.30pm in the Session Room tomorrow (Thursday) when John Gibson will give a talk about Stirling County RFC.
