£3000 for missing council property
Loss of equipment, theft and vandalism cost Stirling Council thousands of pounds in the 12 months to the end of March this year.
Papers tabled at a meeting of the authority’s audit committee showed eight mobile phones and six fuel cards went missing.
The bill during that period for 18 incidents of lost equipment was put at £3481.
Theft of a boiler from a council house which was under repair cost the authority £472, while a saw and backpack blower, valued at £1500, were stolen from a council vehicle at Callander roads depot.
Batteries costing £250 were taken from council premises at Polmaise and vandalism at its waste transfer station led to a bill of £516 for council tax-payers.
The audit committee noted the report.
