Braehead The club’s winter Sewell Competition is underway and 12-holes were played with the half handicap rule was in force. This was reflected in the scoring. Over the weekend 130 golfers took part in the competition. Due to the heavy snow the previous Friday rounds seven and eight were cancelled. The weather was a bit frosty for this weekend, however there was some great scoring on difficult conditions. Round nine: Division 1 - 1 M Kaney 51(6)45acb; 2 A Robertson 51(6)45; 3 B Myles 52(6)46acb. Lowest gross - J Murray 50. Division 2 - 1 A Fotheringham 53(9)44; 2 R Duncan 53(8)45acb; 3 A MacDonald 55(10)45acb. Lowest gross - S McArthur 54acb. Lowest gross Craig Wilson 54. Seniors winter golf; Ochil Shield competition. With the weather taking a turn for the worse, heavy frost put the seniors on the 12-hole course. This was again reflected in the scoring. Round four: Division 1 - 1 D Reid 51(8)43; 2 S Matchett 48(4)44. Division 2 - 1 Jim Brady 55(10)45; 2 John Mills 57(11)46. Magic twos: No luck for the two club. Bridge of Allan After last week’s disruption due to snow, competitions got back to normal at the club at the weekend. In the Senior 9 Hole Stableford old campaigner Garry Bowman got back to winning ways with his 20-point total. Second place went to Keith Pyper on 19-points with David Tucker third on 18-points. In the Saturday Winter Medal scoring was excellent and winner by just one shot was Andrew Stuart with a Net61. Hugh Dent claimed second place with his Net62 and third was Douglas Gebbie on 67.
