Albion back home

- David Ogilvie

Stirling Albion host bottom club Cowdenbeath on Saturday, having ended their Forthbank exile against Peterhead in a massive match last night (Tuesday).

The winner of that game – the Binos’first on home soil since they lost to Stenhousemuir at the end of October – would have leapfrogged Montrose to go top of Ladbrokes League 2.

Regardless of that result, Dave Mackay’s men will be favourites to get the better of Cowdenbeath this weekend, having already won 3-0 at Central Park this season.

Stirling’s unbeaten away record came to an end with a 1-0 defeat against Berwick Rangers, and boss Mackay admits his side were not at their best but felt they could have grabbed a point in what was their first outing since the 1-1 draw with Clyde on November 11.

He said:“We certainly didn’t play as we can do, that’s for sure. I thought we were poor in the final third. We got into some decent areas but our crossing was poor and so was our decision making at times.

“We might have been able to get a draw out of it and a point might have been a fair reflection but we certainly didn’t deserve to win the game.

“They hit the crossbar but I don’t think Cammy Binnie had many saves to make while Robby McCrorie had a couple of great saves in the first half from Neil McLaughlin and Darren Smith’s follow-up.

“Normally they would probably score them but you can’t be too harsh on the guys, especially Darren when you consider the number of goals he has scored this season.”

Last week’s Albion lotto numbers were 2, 3, 10, 28. There was no jackpot winner so today’s (Wednesday’s) jackpot is £9,800. Four players matched three numbers to win £62.50 each. Play online at safclotto.co.uk.
