Obituary Last Friday the village heard with regret of the sudden passing on Thursday of Captain Jim McAlpine MN, Acredyke, Cauldhame. Since his retiral from seagoing, Jim has not enjoyed the best of health but was able and well with his family over the festive season. Sincere sympathy is extended to his wife June, daughter Fiona, son Graham and their family. Parish Church Sunday worship will be at 10am and led by Rev Dr Valerie Allen. All welcome.

Kirk On Monday, January 22 there is a talk entitled Africa Bound with Ruth Box at 7.30pm in the kirkrooms. Heritage society On Wednesday, January 24 at 7.30pm in the Village Club, David Lawson speaks on “Our Feathered Friends”. All welcome.

Playgroup Over-twos on Tuesdays 9.45-11.45am, Fridays 9.30am-noon, term time in the community hall. Primary school P1 enrolment is today (Friday) from 12.30-3.30pm. Online forms are at https://my.stirling. gov.uk/services/education-andlearnin­g/enrolment and attend with their child’s birth certificat­e, child benefit book/award letter, tax credit award letter, a recent council tax bill and two utility bills. Norrieston Church Rev Ellen Larson Davidson will lead worship at 10am. Following the service there will be an opportunit­y to purchase goods from the Traidcraft stall and enjoy a tea or coffee in the church hall. There will be a meeting of the board and session on Monday, January 29 at 7.30pm in the church hall.
