One game away from finals day - again
Stirling County will meet either Melrose, Hawick or Watsonians in the BT Cup semi-final on March 31 after Saturday’s thrilling win over Edinburgh Accies.
It is the second year in a row that the Bridgehaugh side have found themselves one step away from Murrayfield finals day.
Twelve months ago Melrose beat them 48-18 at The Greenyards before going on to defeat Ayr in the final.
Before then, however, County have the task of keeping themselves in the BT Premiership in their three remaining fixtures.
They have not won a league match since October 28, when they came out 40-29 winners against bottom-of-the-table Marr
The Ayrshire side will be County’s opponents on March 3 and they will end their league season with a rearranged match at Melrose on March 10.
On Saturday their final home BT Premiership match of the season takes place against Glasgow Hawks, who are level on points with County.
That match will virtually seal a spot in the top league next season for the winners, with the losers in danger of the dreaded play-off.
On Saturday Stirling 2nds meet Glasgow Hawks 2nds at home in a BT National Reserve League Division 1 match.
Stirling 3rds lost 35-23 at home to Falkirk 2nds in the BT Caledonian League Division Two Midlands on Saturday and meet Panmure at home this weekend.
Bannockburn went down 34-19 to Arbroath in Division Three Midlands and face Hillfoots 2nds on Saturday at Bluebellwood.
