Proclaimers blast ticket touts

-

The Proclaimers have hit out at ticket touts for charging extreme prices to get in to their concerts – less than two weeks after their Stirling show sold-out in minutes.

Twins Charlie and Craig Reid will entertain a lucky audience with their most famous hits from down the years at the Albert Halls on Friday, December 14, as part of a bumper new tour.

The Observer reported last week that scores of music fans had been left disappointed after the much-sought after briefs were snapped up within minutes of going on sale.

And it was revealed this week that tickets for their sold-out Scottish tour were now on-sale for as much as £175 on sites such as Viagogo and Stubhub – more than four-times their face-value price.

In a statement on social media the band called for a change in the law to prevent greedy touts from ripping-off genuine music fans.

They said:“Apologies to all the fans who encountered frustrations via the Ticketmaster system and failed to get tickets.

“Sorry, also, that within minutes, we were seeing touts selling tickets at scandalous prices via secondary selling sites.

“We hope laws can come into effect to prohibit this practice.”

The Stirling show, which sold out in minutes, will extend the band’s long-lasting bond with music fans in the city – having previously played a famous Stirling Castle Hogmanay show – in addition to numerous other gigs in the area down the years.
