SWI news The next meeting of will be held tomorrow (Thursday) at 7.30pm in the village hall when there will be a talk entitled “My Lace Journey” by Margaret Milligan. Competitio­ns for the evening are a given recipe from Drymen Show schedule (Marmalade Cake) and a piece of jewellery.

Arthritis Care Next meeting is on Monday, March 12 in the Victoria Hall Supper Room from 1.30-3.30pm when there will be a talk from an NHS representa­tive discussing ALFY (Advice Line For You). Doors open 1.30pm, dancing from 2-4pm. Tea and biscuits, bring your own mug. Cost £4. Annual Dunblane Lecture The annual lecture will be held on Monday, March 12 at 7.30pm in the Victoria Hall. This lecture is arranged jointly between Dunblane Civic Society and Dunblane Local History Society. This year’s talk will be “Is Brexit Transformi­ng British Politics?” by Sir John Curtice, Professor of Politics at the University of Strathclyd­e, President of the British Polling Council and Fellow of the Royal Academy. Admission is £4 for members and £5 for visitors (incls. wine, soft drinks and small nibbles). Boys’ Brigade The coffee morning had to be postponed at the weekend and it will now take place on Saturday, April 28 from 10am-noon in the Cathedral Hall instead. The BB appreciate­s that many people had already baked before the decision, but hope they will still be able to contribute on the re-arranged date. The BB Band Spring Concert will be held on Sunday, March 18 at 7.30pm in Dunblane Cathedral. Forty-three members of the band and training band have been working extremely hard preparing music from the movies, Broadway, classical and pop genres to entertain with something for everyone. A full concert-band sound to fill the fantastic acoustic of the cathedral, as well as soloists and small ensembles. Tickets are £5 (adults) and £3 (children) and can be purchased in advance or at the door. In addition, the band will play at the Perform in Perth festival at Perth Concert Hall on Monday, March 12 at 7.30pm. On Friday there is no Junior Section meeting, as the boys in this age group are off to Dumfries House Outdoor Centre for the weekend. Dunblane Cathedral Tonight (Wednesday), the series of Lenten Bible Study continues in the halls at 7.30pm. Background notes to help in preparatio­n for the study are available from the Welcome Table in the cathedral or from the Cockburn Coffee Lounge. Tomorrow (Thursday), the Midweek Service will be held at 11am. A warm welcome is extended to all to attend this short service in the Choir area of the cathedral. The Handbell Ringers have organised their next Craft Fair for Saturday, March 10 in the halls, doors open at 10.30am. There will be a wide selection of crafts for sale, as well as refreshmen­ts. Morning worship on Sunday will include the Sacrament of Baptism. The service begins as usual at 10.30am. All groups of Cathedral Kids will meet and a crèche will be available, if required.
