Building on the success of first menopause cafe

-

Stirling’s first menopause cafe proved such a success that a second has been organised.

Theevent attheRecyke-a-bike Cafe, Alloa Road, Causewayhead, saw 25 women take part in the event, with an age range from 22 to 70.

Organiser Jane Milne said:“The café was buzzing with conversation, and lots of laughter too. The common thread in the comments received after the café was that it provided a friendly, welcoming environment to share experiences of the menopause, and many other things too.

“There were women there at all stages of their hormonal cycle chatting about all things menopause over a cuppa and cake.

“Some who came along have also joined my peloton community – which is all about bringing women together to talk about a whole range of topics in a welcoming, respectful space.”Most women will, at some time in their life, be affected by the menopause but – until recently – the menopause (and the impact it has on women, their families and their colleagues) wasn’t something that was really understood or talked much about.

Founded by Rachel Weiss of Rowan Consultancy in Perth, the menopause cafe concept brings people of all ages together to chat, share their experiences and learn from each other – it’s just people coming together for a conversation in a friendly atmosphere.

People of all genders, social status and ethnicity are welcome - whether they’re not menopausal at all, are peri-menopausal, are in the midst of it or are post menopausal.

The next menopause cafe is being held at the Recyke-a-bike cafe on June 6 from 7.15pm until 9.15pm.
