Superheroes are taking over Blair Drummond Safari Park this weekend at afamilyeventfromSaturday to Monday, May 26-28.
In addition to all the usual activities at the Safari Park, there will be special guest appearances from real live superheroes and a ‘superhero’training academy.
Visitors to the Safari Park will also be treated to a special superhero display from Access Parkour, an Edinburgh-based parkour performance and coaching organisation, who will be leaping, vaulting and jumping around the safari park.
Visitorswill alsohavetheopportunity to learn more about the abilities of some of the animals at the safari park. Blair Drummond Safari Park’s education officer Annie Armstrong said: “Visitors will discover that giraffes have super sight. Keen eyes paired with their great height gives them some of the best views in the savanna. They can also see more colours than most other mammals which helps them look out for predators and other giraffes.
“Sea lions have a super sense of touch.Their whiskers can detect the ripples made by fish moving underwater. They can sense the speed and direction of the fish, making them fantastic hunters.
“And smell is very important to lemurs; when males fight over females they produce a smelly substance and rub it all over their tail. They then waft their tails at each other and the smelliest lemur wins. These disputes are called ‘stink fights!”
The Observer has teamed up with the safari park again to offer readers the chance to win a family pass each week.
