Art News Ten artistic students travelled with Mrs McMenemy to see an amazing collaboration of costume, music and performance in the annual show produced by the students in Edinburgh College of Art. The show was vital, lively and inspirational. There were combinations of creepy puppets attached to decorative human puppet masters, historical references, cultural combinations and stunning re -imaginings of well-known tales and shows. The pupils hoping to continue with art studies next year were introduced to fantastic visual SQA Exams Good luck to all pupils who are sitting exams in the final week! PTP 100 Club Thanks to Rosie Allison (S4) and Colette Murphy (S4) for drawing May’s Lotto. Training Centre The first of the new S4 Construction classes began to develop their bricklaying skills last week. Pupils were fully engaged and motivated. A successful start to S4. Ukulele Concert A small group of pupils attended a concert by the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain last Wednesday. The orchestra performs on ukuleles of all shapes and sizes, soprano, concert, baritone, the bassalele and their voices. They performed a wide variety of music including Pharell Williams, David Bowie, The Proclaimers, Grace Jones and Handel! The programme of pieces had the audience singing and clapping along! After the concert there was an opportunity for fans to have CDs, posters, instruments etc. signed by the band plus a group selfie with the orchestra! Community Partnership Summer Food Festival On Saturday, June 16 from 10am to 2pm the school is hosting its Community Partnership Summer Food Festival - a day for all the family and friends to come and enjoy an exciting range of food and to socialise. The school’s food assembly producers will be there with their Community Café with pupils performing musical entertainment. There are plans to have Stirling High School honey for sale and stalls run by families. Young people, families and friends can have a stall at the festival as can local food and drink businesses ranging from home-baking and traditional Scottish fayre to foods from ethnic backgrounds. If you would like a stall, the cost is £10 plus a small donation to the food inspired raffle. All profits are kept by the stallholders. Contact the school at stirlinghs@glow. sch.uk.
