Six losing rinks for red-faced County

Glasgow side cruise to a 64-shot victory

Stirling County West’s Hamilton Trophy hopes took a severe knock on Saturday at Doune when they crashed to 64-shot home defeat at the hands of Glasgow.

County had no answer to the Glasgow assault and for the first time in many years, finished with six losing rinks.

Kenny Murdoch’s four lost 30-10 to T McCartney; Dougie Kerr and company lost 22-19 to P Taggart and Sandy Deans’ four finished 21-13 adrift of G McDougall.

Jason Williams’ four lost 23-11 to D Elliot; Garry Malcomson carded a 32-15 loss to S Wilson, while David Ferguson’s four lost 26-20 to M Kelsey. Totals: Stirling County West 90-154 Glasgow.

On Saturday another stiff test awaits at the Gourock Park green when County take on Renfrewshi­re West. District League

Winners of the Causewayhe­ad Junior Rink Competitio­n on Sunday were Dunblane (Alan Jackson, Connel Jackson, Cameron Tully and Alex Christmas). Runners-up were Causewayhe­ad (Jason Williams, Alexis Williams, Erin McKinlay and Adam Egerton).

Losing semi-finalists were Dunblane (Gregor Wightman, Fraser McManus, Kai Jackson and Harry Tyle) along with Cumbernaul­d (Andy Parker, Sean Parker, Nadia Lloyd and Blair Sim).
