Wallace High School are double winners after taking both the boys’and girls’titles at the annual Active Stirling’s Junior Basketball competition recently. More than 130 secondary S1-S3 pupils from six schools competed and after 42 matches the Wallace Boys Team 4 and Girls Team 1 were crowned champions.

As 2018 is the Year of Young People the competition was run by 15-16 year-old sports leaders from Balfron High School who collated the scores and tournament results, while players from Renfrew Rocks Basketball Club U19s squad umpired the game.

Paul O’Shea, Active Stirling Active Schools Co-ordinator said:“It was an excellent day of basketball and a tough competition showcasing the strength of the sport in the area.

“The success of the day speaks volumes of the work put in by teachers volunteering to run basketball clubs after school.

“Also, a massive thank you to the pupils from Balfron High and Renfrew Rocks U19s.

“The success of the day would not have been possible without these volunteers.”
