Thrilling challenge is back

-

A annual adventure challenge is to take place for the fifth time on an estate near Doune.

The Lanrick Challenge will be held on August 4 over six and 12 kilometres through parkland along the River Teith.

However there won’t be much time to admire the surroundings as runners face challenges such as logs, ditches, bogs and burns.

There will be a total of 48 obstacles on offer and the event is suitable for all fitness levels – with opportunities to walk, jog or sprint the course.

In previous years hundreds of thrill-seekers have turned out at Lanrick Estate for the day which is organised to raise funds for good causes.

And down the years around £50,000 has been raised for charities by kind-spirited participants.

This year the challenge will support Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) and the Sandpiper Trust.

The Sandpiper Trust was set up by organisers Penny and Aly Dickson in memory of their son Sandy who died in a drowning accident in 2000 aged 14. Their aim is to improve emergency care in remote areas while supplying medical teams with lifesaving equipment.

Both charities will assist with demonstrating CPR skills during the warm-up for all participants.

There will also be a minimud run on the day enabling five to 12-year-olds to take on a two-kilometre course with their parents, friends and maybe even a dog.
