Jobs in store at Thistles

Boost by Joules

- John Rowbotham

A well-known clothing store is to create eight new jobs when it opens in Stirling city centre on Wednesday.

Joules, which has 123 stores across the UK plus outlets in USA, German and France, is moving to The Thistles.

The store established by businessman Tom Joule three decades ago will open up in the unit formerly occupied by risque lingerie store Ann Summers which closed in June.

And the arrival of Joules is another boost for the shopping centre following the re-location of Boots to a new 18,750 sq ft unit which takes in part of the former BHS store. Boots’ move will allow its former home to be converted into a new 30,000 sq ft store, over three floors, for clothing chain Next.

To celebrate the opening, Joules will be giving away a £200 gift card for the first person in the queue on opening day.

The next 10 customers will receive £100 gift cards and there will be £50 gift cards for the following 10 customers.

Thistles will open the Port Street entrance to the centre at 8.30am where customers are being asked to queue.

Joules will also be giving out goody bags to customers on opening day and have live music in the store from the brand’s resident singer Richie.

Centre director Gary Turnbull said: “Joules’ success and growth reflects its popularity. Joules will bring a strong product offering which is sure to be well received by shoppers.”

Joules first store was in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, the site of its first shop and head office since it was founded.
